GATTACA Resonse

In what way does GATTACA represent the elements of a dystopian society?

The division between the genetically modified humans and the degenerates represents the element of dystopian society in GATTACA. The genetically modified humans are shown to be "perfect" and are given the jobs and education based on their genes. Whereas the degenerates are refused to be a part of specific jobs and are only given jobs that require less skills. They are left to feel less worthy as they have natural human flaws compared to the perfect genetically modified humans. The society's goal was to have all "perfect" humans leading to a perfect world but since there were naturally born humans still existing they failed to do so.

In what way might GATTACA be considered a representation of a utopian society?

Having many genetically modified humans born to be perfect can be considered to represent a utopian society in GATTACA because they're left to have very little or no flaws at all. The modified DNA leaves the humans to have the best qualities and skills. These perfect humans working and running the society leads to a minimum amount of conflict and therefore a perfect society.
